BREAKING NEWS – Washington, D.C. – In the latest and perhaps decisive battle over the role of women in the military, the Senate approved an expansive military policy bill that would for the first time require young women to register for the draft. The United States has not used the draft since 1973 during the Vietnam War. Under the Senate bill passed on Tuesday, women turning 18 on or after Jan. 1, 2018, would be forced to register for Selective Service, just like men. The National Organization of Women (NOW) initially responded that “men have taken this equality nonsense a little too far”. Now NOW is saying that if women have to be on the front lines, they would like a provision that allows them an additional two hours each morning, so they can put on make-up, paint their fingernails, and do their hair before going into combat.
