BREAKING NEWS – Seattle, Washington – Carmen Best, the Seattle police chief, emailed her resignation notice, hours after the city council made good on its promise to approve sweeping proposals that would cut about 100 officers and slash the department’s budget.
“I wanted you to hear this from me, but some media have reached this conclusion on their own,” she wrote. “This was a difficult decision for me, but when it’s time, it’s time.”
The Seattle City Council responded to the upcoming resignation, with a statement on their own. “Well that’s one down and one to go,” the letter began. “Our next goal is to get rid of Mayor Jenny Durkan, replace her with one of our own, and then get rid of every cop in this city. We will not rest until every person that has a direct or indirect connection to law enforcement is out of Seattle! People should be able to do anything they want without restraint or feeling guilty. We believe each individual should decide what is right or wrong, not elected officials, or city ordinances, or state laws, or federal laws, or the U.S. Constitution, or even God.”
