BREAKING NEWS – Washington, D.C. – Sen. Bob Menendez’s wife and three other alleged co-conspirators accused in a complex bribery scheme with the New Jersey Democrat pleaded not guilty in federal court.
It was the second time the co-defendants appeared in court after prosecutors filed a superseding indictment that charged Sen. Menendez, D-N.J.; his wife; and Hana, a New Jersey businessman from Egypt, with conspiracy for a public official to act as an agent of a foreign principal.
“Tony Soprano also lives in New Jersey,” Menendez told the federal judge. “He committed all kinds of crimes, and he didn’t go to prison. So in my opinion by comparison, the countless bribes I’ve taken are no big deal.”
