BREAKING NEWS – Memphis, Tennessee – Black Lives Matter announced their plan to “Shut Down Graceland”, and they specifically chose Graceland because it is Elvis Week. If carried out, the demonstration will be the third high-profile protest in the area by Black Lives Matter in the last month. Most recently in front of Graceland, where some protesters were detained for blocking traffic. BLM stated that they will call off the protest if two demands are met. The first one is, that they are given two rooms in Graceland to be used as their Memphis Chapter. And the second one was that Elvis’ estate refrain from selling the the song “Jailhouse Rock”, because it indirectly suggests that African-Americans want to go to prison because being incarcerated is comparable to a dance party.
