BREAKING NEWS – Chicago, Illinois – The “common denominator” in the crime “problem” in Chicago is “our state’s attorney’s office,” Anthony Napolitano, a Chicago alderman and former police officer, said on Thursday.
Napolitano, who is calling for Cook County State’s Attorney Kimberly Foxx to resign, made the comment on “America’s Newsroom” on Thursday, four days after a Ronald McDonald House in Chicago, where families of hospitalized children stay, was reportedly targeted by looters. Plus earlier in the week, more than 100 people were arrested following looting and vandalism through the Magnificent Mile.
During Foxx’s first three years in the job, her office has dropped all charges against 29.9% of felony defendants, according to the Chicago Tribune. She responded to the recent crime spree. “As the Cook County State’s Attorney, I have the right and discretion to ignore any criminal acts I choose, just like in the Jussie Smollet case,” she explained. “As far as the looting at the Ronald McDonald House, no toys were stolen thus the kids were not affected, so I will not be filing charges against those arrested. And as far as the looting and vandalism of the Magnificent Mile, I rarely shop at those uppity stores, so why should I be concerned?”
