U.S. & World History – After the recent discovery of some news articles, letters, and eye witness accounts from the early colonial period, one of America’s most famous founding fathers is now being viewed in a different light.
Patrick Henry, who uttered the famous words on March 23, 1775 “Give me liberty or give me death”, was in complete shock when some British soldiers began dragging him to a firing squad to honor his request. “What I meant to say”, Patrick said to the soldiers in a nervous quivering voice as he was being escorted, “was give me liberty or give me debt.” So instead of killing him, they maxed out his credit cards.
