U.S. & World History – A little known fact is how a very wealthy American family got their last name. In the late 1800s, a man got rich because he could accurately hit a man with a stone from a 100 yards away. People kept betting he couldn’t do it, and every time he won the bet, he’d invest it. He eventually amassed a fortune and changed his last name to what he was known for doing which got him wealthy. The pronunciation and spelling was slightly altered over the years, but it was originally pronounced “Rock-a-fellow”.
