BREAKING NEWS – Evanston, Illinois – As a former alderwoman, Robin Rue Simmons turned activist, pushed for reparations in Evanston, which became the first city to award such restitution to Black residents who qualify.

Those who qualified were awarded grants up to $25,000 for a down payment on a new home, home renovations or mortgage assistance, according to CNN. Illinois’ approval of recreational marijuana, which went into effect in 2022, and Evanston offered blacks another option, free marijuana for life and was strongly urged to chose weed over the other choices. According to a leaked email from the mayor Daniel Bliss, he said “Let’s keep them high on marijuana, so they’ll ask for snacks instead of money.”
