Ask Blake Picture111

Dear Blake,

I am 15 years old and I’m thinking about running away just so I can get away from my parents, because they are constantly on my back about something. When they’re not complaining about me ditching school, they’re whining about me occasionally experimenting with drugs. I also don’t think they have right to tell me who I should be hanging around either, because unlike them, I don’t look down towards people that have lengthy police records. My bags are packed, what do you think I should do?

Signed, Jake

Dear Jake,

Most teenagers challenge their parents when they’re your age. However, I don’t think you should run away, because it deprives your parents the pleasure of drop kicking your ungrateful behind out of the front door! They are on your back because they are legally obligated to deal with your adolescent stupidity. I have to give your parents credit, because it appears that they are doing everything they can, to delay the moment until they unleash you on the public. You actually want to be on the streets during the winter months in Chicago trying to survive their notorious blizzards? My guess is, by spring, you’ll be in a homeless shelter or one of their cemeteries. From what I understand, the comfort level from both is around the same. And why are you just dabbling into drugs? If you have probably dealing with the frustrations of life, start only taking drugs that you have to use intravenously, and to always double the amount from previous session. If you do that, in time, all of your problems will go away, but your parents will only be rid of theirs. So in the end, you win! I hope this helps.
