Marijuana is eventually going to be legal in all states, and I think it’s a good thing? After all, it’s a harmless drug. What’s your perspective?

Dear Emmitt,
You’re right, it will probably become legalized nationwide, but harmless? Would you want your doctor to have a few puffs before performing open heart surgery on you? He might be so loaded, that he wants to go through your feet to get to your chest because it’s the scenic route. Or maybe have a jury deliberate on your fate, while they were in a smoke filled room enjoying Jamaica’s finest? They may end up recommending that you get beheaded over a traffic ticket. It is obviously your right to wander the streets aimlessly and expressionless smoking weed, asking yourself what you feel are deep philosophical questions, that a sober person would consider idiotic. But, you better hope you’re aren’t on a red-eye when a pilot gets the munchies after smoking a couple of joints in the cockpit, and then attempts to land on a street near a 24 hour 7-11 because of his desire to wolf down a box of Twinkies.
