I’m a cop and I have been one for almost four years. By the time I started my third year, I was regularly taking bribes and shaking down drug dealers to supplement my income. Lately, I have been feeling really disgusted with myself, but I must admit I love the money and power. What are your thoughts?

Dear W,
In this economy, many people are trying various ways to make some extra cash. Unfortunately, you are embracing a common practice that law enforcement utilizes to line their pockets in that raggedy city that you patrol. I really hoped that the FBI in the late 90’s when they arrested and indicted most of the police department, encouraged people with your mindset to change careers and slink out of town. But your letter proves that there is still some raw sewage in New Orleans, that’s in the shape of a man and is wearing a uniform. I’m hoping someday you’ll honor the laws you initially swore to uphold. Because if you continue shaking down pistol packing drug dealers, your body will eventually be found with more lead in it than a box on No. 2 pencils. I hope this helps.
