Dear Blake,
I’m ten years old and my mother is about to marry someone that I don’t like. It has always been just me and her and I don’t want that to change, so what should I do?
Signed, Eva

Dear Eva,
I understand your frustration, but you have to understand that if your mother loves him, it’s her choice, and you should honor and respect that. On the other hand, if you believe that he is a pathetic worthless loser, you should do anything conceivable to ruin that relationship. For starters, in the passenger seat of his car place some napkins from several gay bars. That alone will make your mother start wondering if he has a secret life. During breakfast, act like you’re about to snort some sugar, and tell your mother you saw your future step dad do it… at least you thought it was sugar. And finally try this, if he has a land line at his home with caller I.D., start calling when you know your mother is there, and when she answers, hang up. But do this from the local free clinic. Hopefully your mother will put two and two together. I hope this helps.
