Dear Blake,
I am about to get married and I am really scared. It’s not cold feet, it’s my past. My wife-to-be that I have known for over a year, does not know I was in prison 10 years for strong arm robbery. I love her and I’m a changed man. I feel if I told her the truth now, she would cancel the wedding and dump me. Any advice you can give me will be extremely helpful.
Signed, Joe

Dear Joe,
I totally understand you not wanting to tell your future wife now, due to the fear of possibly losing her. But on the other hand, since she lives in Chicago, she has to know that 80% of all the men there are felons, including the cops and elected officials. You can also tell her that you were wrongly convicted. If she’s really in love and/or has the intellect of a dizzy blonde, she’ll probably believe you. How about having her drive you to your bank, and while you’re inside making a normal transaction, she waits for you outside. When you’re done, come running out of the bank, jump into the car and have her drive off fast. Tell her because you just attempted to rob a bank, and it appears that she drove the getaway, she is equally guilty. And, if she cancels the wedding, you’ll go straight to the cops, confess your crime, and name her as an accomplice. It also might be a good idea to gently take her hand, and telling her historically your relationship can work, because there is no record that Bonnie ever doubted getting involved with Clyde, even as they were being sprayed by machine guns because of their crime spree. Showing your softer side can go a long way. I hope this helps.
