I am 20 years old. I met a woman who seems to like me. But when I asked her out she said she is sort of involved but didn’t want to talk about it. Recently I heard from her friends that she might be available now. I called. She said she gave me the same non-answer. Except now she has been really nice to me and calls me quite a bit. Am I just a back-up option or is she interested?

Sometimes it takes a woman a while to realize how nice a guy is and warm up to him. But to answer your question in regards to you being a “back-up option”, the answer is of course you are! And it’s not because who you are, it’s because where you live… Chicago. That place is so violent, that she has to have several “back-ups”, because she has no guarantee that the guy she is crazy about in the morning, won’t be riddled with bullets lying face down in an alley by midday. She may want to talk her boyfriend before she goes to sleep at night, but when someone finally answers the phone, it might be his next of kin that’s in a family meeting plotting to “apprehend” the killer before the cops arrest him. Just keep in mind she’s a woman that has emotional needs. So don’t hold it against her if in the afternoon she is devastated after hearing that her man has been brutally murdered, and then a few hours later enjoying a romantic dinner with one of her second stringers… like you.
