Dear Blake,
I’m a 20-year-old college student. I have never dated anyone besides my current boyfriend. He’s my first-ever boyfriend. I met him in high school, but we ran into each other in college and quickly began a relationship. We’re now into our third year together. We have professed our love for each other. He never said “I love you” to any of his past girlfriends, and I’m happy he said it to me. My concern is that we talk like we’ll be together forever. I think I’d be happy, but should I worry that I’ll never know if there may be other guys I feel a stronger connection to? I’m a little confused.
Signed, Angela

Dear Angela,
There is a long history of college sweethearts living happily ever after. But your doubts/curiosity suggests to me that deep down inside, you feel your boyfriend is a loser, and you’re trying to figure out how to unload him. Here are some suggestions for you. Be honest and tell him that you can’t stand the sight of him. And if he breaks down and cries, record him on your camera phone and post it on Youtube, because always enjoy a good laugh at someone else’s expense. Tell him that you want to date other guys, so you can determine if he is a very good catch, or were you scraping the bottom of the barrel. See if he is open to the idea of you both dating other people. If he agrees, accuse him of looking for an excuse to run around on you, and you don’t want to married to a serial adulterer. But on the other hand, you two might walk down the aisle and be the happiest couple on the planet. But, if I was a betting man, I would wager that by the time you are 40, you’ll be divorced, after your husband finds out that you have been secretly dating one of your kids’ 8th grade classmates. Fortunately after everything is said and done, you’ll have a lot in common with other females you’ll be living with in prison, because many of them are school teachers with your exact same mindset. I hope this helps.
Blake
