Russian Orthodox priests lift a child up from ice-cold water during celebration of the Epiphany Orthodox holiday, outside St. Petersburg, Russia

BREAKING NEWS – St. Petersburg, Russia – After continued pressure from Amnesty International, Russian Orthodox priests are now abandoning their century old tradition of dipping a young boy into a lake to determine if it is too cold to drink. The temperature would be estimated based on how loud the child yelled once lowered into the icy water. The priests announced that they planned on ending the tradition anyway, after some of them reporting having a hearing loss due to the ear piercing screams of the boys used as thermometers.
