BREAKING NEWS – Detroit, Michigan – The Monument to Joe Louis, known also as “The Fist” is a memorial to the boxer at Detroit’s Hart Plaza. Dedicated on October 16, 1986, the sculpture, commissioned by Sports Illustrated magazine a 24-foot-long arm with a fisted hand suspended by a 24-foot-high pyramidal framework. Due to the ongoing violent crime rate, citizens in Motor City are split down the middle regarding modifying the sculpture to reflect their current society. Half of the people want the historic landmark to remain as is, while others want the fist modified to be wearing some brass knuckles embedded with teeth.
