BREAKING NEWS – Dundee, Scotland – In the past, scientists have used everything from laser beams to superconducting magnetic fields to levitate objects. And in 2014, researchers at the University of Dundee in Scotland showed that acoustic holograms that act like a tractor beam could theoretically levitate and grab objects. Bruce Drinkwater, a mechanical engineer at the University of Bristol said, “That if in the future this technology is advanced to the point of being a functional and practical tractor beam, we hope that this product will never be exported to the United States, where it will likely be used by their high concentration of carjackers and shoplifters.”
