BREAKING NEWS – Cedarville, New Jersey – A New Jersey school district is facing scrutiny for a provocative eighth grade homework assignment in which students at Myron L. Powell Elementary School in Cedarville were instructed to write a “reactive response” to a given situation. They wanted to know what the students would do if they went to a party, got drunk, had sex with a stranger and then contracted herpes. The school superintendent later stated that the assignment was improper, and should not have been given to children that were obviously not mature enough to respond on that subject matter. It has now been replaced with a new assignment that gives the eighth graders the option of either answering one of two questions. Either, who would they choose if they had to toss a hand grenade at their mother or father, and why that parent? Or, if there was a worldwide famine, would they consider cannibalism?
