BREAKING NEWS – Hollywood, California – There has now been calls for a boycott of this year’s Academy Awards over the all-white list of acting nominees. Director Spike Lee announced that they would not be attending the Feb. 28 ceremony. In a lengthy Instagram post, he explained that he “cannot support” the “lily white” Oscars. He further added, “I know a lot of people are going to allege that I am frustrated and irritated because no one ever comes to see the films that I make, which is true for the most part. But, I feel that the Academy should nominate black actors each year, even if their performances for that particular year were substandard. The emphasis should be on diversity, not quality.”
