BREAKING NEWS – New York City, New York – Controversial quarterback Colin Kaepernick deserves a chance to continue his NFL career, his supporters said at a rally organized by Spike Lee. His backers say NFL team owners have blackballed Kaepernick because he staged a one-man protest last season on behalf of African-Americans and other minorities – by kneeling instead of standing for the national anthem before each week’s game. But critics have said his refusal to stand for “The Star-Spangled Banner” has been disrespectful to the nation and its service members. Lee was asked if he would be willing to help out Kaepernick financially until he either can get an NFL contract or a job. “What? Me? Why me? I shouldn’t be dragged into this,” he stated. “Uh, well uh, he screwed up, why should I have to pay for it? My uh… well… my films have been bombing for years, and you think I want to hear that he can’t pay his freakin’ bills, because that idiot dishonored the American flag? He’ll know better next time!”
