BREAKING NEWS – Fort Bragg, North Carolina – A decorated Army chaplain is facing what his attorneys are calling a “career-ending punishment” after he explained to a soldier that he could not conduct a marriage retreat that included same sex couples. A military investigation at Fort Bragg determined Chaplain Scott Squires should be disciplined for his failure to include a lesbian couple in the Strong Bonds Marriage Retreat. They determined he had discriminated against a soldier based on her sexual orientation. In a letter written to Squires’ attorney, the Army stated that he was “too dedicated to the bible” and “his faith in God should be reserved for foxholes on battlefields, and not matrimonial ceremonies”. The Army then sent a memo to all of their chaplains worldwide, telling them that until this issue is resolved, they must immediately “cease praying, along with any other unmonitored communications with God”.
