BREAKING NEWS – New York City, New York – Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is calling for the elimination of the electoral college. The self-described democratic socialist wrote in response to a GQ writer’s critique of the institution, “It is well past time we eliminate the Electoral College, a shadow of slavery’s power on America today that undermines our nation as a democratic republic.” She concluded her response by writing, “And if my party does not win back the House and Senate next month plus the presidency in 2020, I think it’s time that we abolish elections, and simply have people appointed to federal offices nationwide by the chairperson of the DNC.”
