BREAKING NEWS – New York City, New York – If the Big Apple is to become the Green Apple, it will have to ban the steel and glass towers that form its signature skyline, according to Mayor Bill de Blasio. De Blasio, speaking on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” said that city’s most iconic structures – the tall skyscrapers seen from miles away – are the “biggest source of emissions” in New York City. The drastic change, and a switch to only renewable energy within five years, are necessary for Gotham to embrace the Green New Deal, de Blasio said. “We are putting clear, strong mandates” to lower emissions, he said, warning property owners will face massive fines unless buildings are retrofitted. “Another thing I want to do, is lower the skyscrapers, so no building is more than three stories tall. For example, the Empire State Building will get chopped up and be made into 34 separate buildings. And to keep the emissions to a minimum and contained in every building, all glass from windows will be removed and then boarded up. I also plan to meet with Governor Cuomo later this week to bounce off him an idea I have in regards to new environment friendly homes that I want built in this state, after I do a little more research on huts”.
