BREAKING NEWS – Lakeland, Florida – Controversy continues about a hurricane-themed Publix cookie cake, which according to the grocery store chain, were made by individual locations. Some Publix stores created similar treats back in 2017 before the arrival of Hurricane Irma. Those items elicited some adverse reactions, as have the new Dorian-themed cakes. However, while some commenters on social media were unhappy with cookie cake and accused Publix of trying to profit off a potentially deadly storm, others thought the outrage was unwarranted. This isn’t the first time the supermarket was criticized for making cakes regarding nature. In the past in California, the store created some earthquake themed cakes, in Honolulu they made some cakes shaped like volcanoes with yellow frosting as lava. And in many states all over the nation, Pubix made cakes they had icing that looked like dark clouds, to reflect electrical storms that were responsible for people getting struck by lightning.
