BREAKING NEWS – Houston, Texas – Joe Biden drew instant ridicule for making a stunning argument during Thursday night’s debate that “nonviolent” criminals should not be jailed. The former vice president claimed that too many individuals are in prison and the system requires change. Then he made the bold proclamation. “Nobody should be in jail for a nonviolent crime.” Biden said. Rather than walking it back after the debate, he doubled down. “I meant what I said. When I said non-violent, I meant non-violent. Identity thieves, non-aggressive home burglars, people who cheat on their taxes, etc., should not be incarcerated. And I will even include bank robbers who threaten tellers with unloaded guns and/or phony explosives, who only want money, should not be tossed into prison. Having them pay a fine or putting them under house arrest for a few days, should be more than enough to discourage bad behavior.”
