BREAKING NEWS – New York City, New York – MSNBC host Chris Matthews has announced his retirement from the network after more than 20 years at the left-leaning cable channel. The longtime host seemed to reference inappropriate comments he allegedly made to a female guest, Laura Bassett, in 2016. “A lot of it has to be with how we talk to each other,” said Matthews. “Compliments on a women’s appearance that some men, including me, might have once incorrectly thought were OK were never OK. Not then and certainly not today. And for making such comments in the past, I’m sorry.”
Rachel Maddow later commented on the possibility of Matthews being inappropriate with women. “I will be extremely dubious if any women alleges that Chris is a predator or has ever acted inappropriately with women,” she explained. “He has been a colleague of mine for years and I have be alone with him on countless occasions. Not once has he said anything to me that can be construed as sexual. He has never touched me or looked at me in any passionate or provocative manner, that made me feel that he wanted me on any sexual level. Based on that, I believe that if any allegations are ever made by any woman against Chris are without merit, and I am the proof.”
