BREAKING NEWS – Richmond City, California – The mayor of Richmond, a city about 20 miles from downtown San Francisco, recently started a program that would pay landlords through private funding to house homeless individuals. There are about 35,000 people experiencing homelessness in the Bay Area, up from 28,000 in 2017, according to a report by the Bay Area Economic Institute.
“Would I open up a spare room for a homeless person? Probably not,” one San Francisco resident, Milo, told Fox News.
Another person, Scott, said: “Would I? I don’t have a room in my apartment.”
Mayor Tom Butt weighed in on the citizen’s reluctance. “I am disappointed in their insensitivity,” he began. “They should look at it from a financial perspective. If they let a homeless person move in, we’d be paying the owner. Plus they wouldn’t have to worry about a homeless person stealing their food, because most bums do not mind eating what has been discarded. Also the residents would not have to worry about a dramatic increase in their water bill, because hobos can go long periods of time without bathing.”
