BREAKING NEWS – Washington, D.C. – President Biden has made many false claims throughout his decades-long political career, including one about being “arrested” when he was 21 years old for sitting in the Senate presiding officer’s chair illegally, which he would contradict two years later.

“You know, I walked in when I was 21, and I got arrested,” Biden claimed in a 2007 interview with comedian David Letterman. “It was a Saturday. I was down visiting some friends from Georgetown University. I was fascinated with the Senate, and they had a Saturday session. I walked up — those days no guards stopping you everywhere — and they just got out of session. I walked in the back, and, all of the sudden, I found myself in the chamber, and I was stunned.

“I walked up, sat down in the presiding officer’s seat,” Biden added. “Guy grabbed me by the shoulder and said, ‘You’re under arrest!’”

He then explained why he wasn’t detained. “After speaking to the guard for about ten minutes regarding my view on various political issues, he left me go when he concluded that either I was really stupid, or I had some early signs of dementia.”
