BREAKING NEWS – Tyler, Texas – Melba Mebane, a 90-year-old woman, is finally called it quits, retiring from her retail job at Dillard’s department store after working there for an astonishing 74 years, with no missed days.
The devoted employee first started as an elevator girl at Dillard’s in 1949 — when she was 17 — before being promoted to the cosmetics department.
“Even [with] the changing times, from where she started to where we are now in the modern world, her values and everything still stand,” Dillard’s store manager James Saenz told Fox News. “However, we had to force her to retire, based on the fact that she never missed a day, and that kind of obsession leads us to believe she is mentally unstable and is a danger to customers as well as to other employees.”
