U.S. & World History – A large body of in the Middle east got its name indirectly from ancient mortgage companies. It was a common tradition a few thousand years ago, for homeowners that lived around the Mediterranean basin, to throw all of the paperwork regarding their property in the water after they made the final payment. It became so popular back then, that floating documents could be seen as far as the eye could see. The name was changed about 1500 years ago, but originally, the body of water was called the “Deed Sea”.
