U.S. & World History – A very popular game show today stemmed from two men in Britain, settling their differences with pistols in the 1840s. An obscure custom was, the winner would get to choose to keep one of any of the three possessions the deceased opponent brought with them. Here’s the catch, the items were covered up with a box and only one of the possessions had some real value, so the winner had to guess when they picked a box. This concept was picked up in 1963 by NBC, and a modified version was an immediate hit on tv. The new version is still popular, but the original title was, “Let’s Make a Duel”.
