BREAKING NEWS – Washington, D.C. – Top Congressional Republicans condemned the decision by President Barack Obama to commute former Army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning’s 35-year prison sentence for leaking classified documents. House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., blasted the decision, calling it “outrageous.” Manning was known as Bradley Manning at the time of her 2010 arrest, but revealed after being convicted of espionage that she identifies as a woman. President Obama explained that he commuted Manning’s sentence, because she threatened to alternate what gender she identifies herself with every other month, costing the federal government millions of dollars in paperwork modifications.
