U.S. & World History – A very well known mountain in Africa got its name due to a statement made by a staffer of President Ford in 1975. While ascending up the mountain lead by a tour guide, Ford continually moved at a brisk pace. It was so fast, hardly anyone could keep up. The mountain was named after the President asked one of his staffers a question and the response he gave was written down by the Tanzanian tour guide, spelling it the way it sounded in his native tongue. The question by Ford was “What would this hike do to the average man?” And the staffer replied, “Kill a man Gerald”.
