Dear Blake,

I am a young woman under 30 with three children. I have been married for five years. I just graduated from college. I have no direction (at least, don’t think I do) of where I am going. I feel like a scared little bee in a room full of bears. All I know is I want to make an impact on my family and go forward, breaking generations that never graduated from college.

I look at some people who have the same degree I do, and they’re working at discount department stores. It motivates me to buck that trend, but I don’t know where to start. What would you do?

Signed, Marilyn

Dear Marilyn,

Unfortunately, some college degrees are not all that beneficial employment-wise. You weren’t specific in regards to which waste of paper you acquired, so I’ll have to speculate on which one you squandered years of your life to obtain. Here are some possibilities. People who get a degree in Hospitality & Tourism for the most part become custodians, and you don’t need a degree to learn how to operate a push broom. Fashion Design degrees are for people that hope to get lucky by creating something bizarre enough, that it’ll become a fad. In that career choice can also meet men of at least ten different genders if not more, as the list grows with new categories. Paralegal Studies means you’re not quite a lawyer, but you’ll probably learn enough to help defense attorneys get murderers and other violent criminals low bails, so they can get back on the street to continue their terror. Lastly, a degree in Art History. This career choice is pointless, because of the few job opportunities, and you’d probably be better of financially in using this particular degree, to sell stolen coloring books on a street corner. Parents can buy them to shut up their young kids, or roll it up to repeatedly swat unruly brats on the back of their heads. I hope this helps.

Blake
