Dear Blake,

I went to visit a man I am dating and there was no visitor parking available. He told me to park in any space, even though there were signs stating non-residents would be towed. He said not to worry about it, that I’d be there only a few hours. Suffice it to say, I got towed.

He did drive me to the tow yard to retrieve my car, but he didn’t offer to pay for my tow charge, or even half of it. I thought it would have been nice of him to at least offer, and that his not offering demonstrated lack of character.

Yes, I know I chose to believe him at my own risk and that I’m responsible for my choices. But I trusted his information. In your opinion, did that demonstrate questionable character on his part?

Dear Cindy,

I personally feel he should pay the entire towing charge. Because he didn’t, I feel you should have his car permanently removed from his assigned parking space, in any way possible. Here are some ideas. Put some cocaine under the driver’s seat, and then call the police anonymously, and insist that they bring some drug-sniffing dogs. Or, slam his passenger door against the car parked next to him, and leave a note saying “dents does not affect gas mileage, so don’t worry about it.” Or, maybe this idea. Go to the seedy part of town, find some thieves that sell stolen car parts, and pay them to strip your boyfriend’s vehicle down to the A-frame. And if you don’t want to do those, I’ll make it simple. Set his car on fire. If you get caught, explain to him, just because you want to incinerate his car, doesn’t mean you don’t love him deeply and want to be with him the rest of your life. If he buys that, end the relationship immediately, due to the fact that it is not wise to be involved with someone who is that blatantly stupid. I hope this helps.

Blake
