Ask Blake Picture111

Dear Blake,

I am 12 years old and I want a smart phone. Even though my parents can easily afford one, they won’t get one for me. All of my friends have one, which makes me feel so left out. Do you have any suggestions that will make them change their mind?

Dear Carrie,

If your parents made a decision, it should be respected. I also have a lot of respect for creative kids that know how to manipulate and con their gullible parents into doing whatever they want. All you have to do is create situations that your parents feel a need to always be able to reach you. Like call them from a pay phone while at a local zoo, and tell them that a lion has escaped, and has already torn a couple of your close friends. Let out a scream, and then hang up. Tell them you went into a bar to get some change, and you were afraid to leave for hours because an entire biker gang was licking their chops as they stared at you, while blocking the door. But I think the best plan is to do this. Wait until each one of your parents are alone, and let them overhear you tell one of your friends that one of your parents is having an affair, and you could easily film them or photograph them if you wanted to. Within a short period of time, not only will you go from having no smartphones to two, you’ll probably be offered a nice amount of cash if you promise to testify at the divorce proceedings. I hope this helps.
