Dear Blake,

I am 17 years old and I am a below average student about to graduate high school… barely. I have always been the prettiest girl in my grade by far, ever since I started school. I have long flowing blonde hair, and boys try to get my attention whether it’s in class, walking in the halls, or in the cafeteria. There is this geeky nerdy classmate of mine that I have known since we were freshman, and for some reason I have grown to really really like him. He has been offered a full academic scholarships from at least three Ivy League schools. When I ask him to help me with my homework, he does it with no strings attached. He was one of the few boys I have given my phone number to, but he only returns my calls and never initiates the contact. I am used to boys fawning all over me so this is so frustrating! I have fallen for a nerd! What should I do?

Signed, Marcia

Dear Marcia,

I think at one time or another, we’ve all been blindsided by love. Because he’s knows your academic level, he might not want to get involved with someone that he considers exceedingly stupid. He might be simply helping you out because he’s done some really terrible things in his past, and taking on charity cases like you is helping him clear his conscience. Or it could be that he has a lot of pride in his school, and he’s doing his part to assist imbeciles in getting diplomas. It’s also possible that he’s doing some research to determine why blondes have the reputation of being idiots, in which you probably already emphatically confirmed. From a physical perspective, he may think you’re gorgeous now, but he has major concerns about the future if you hit “the wall”. But all is not lost, there’s hope. Some women age terribly, so I would suggest for you to continue pursuing him, with the ultimate goal of hearing wedding bells. And hopefully you two can build a relationship that’s so strong, that he’ll stay with you no matter how ghoulish you’ll look in a few decades. I hope this helps.

Blake
