Dear Blake,
I am 14 years old and I am in love with my English teacher who is 30. I know it sounds crazy and weird and I hear it from my best friend every day. I need real advice now because lately it’s been eating away at me. Up until about 4 months ago he was the most understanding person I know, he used to let me vent about anything, never judge me, and give me advice. But that doesn’t happen anymore, because now he hardly talks to me. What do I do?
Signed, Evelyn

Dear Evelyn,
It is quite common for teenage girls to fall in love with their teacher. It’s also common that when those teachers have those same feelings toward a teenage girl and act upon them, they are often the lead story on local and national news before and during their trials. It’s possible that he let you vent to him, because he might be used to it if he’s married to a whiney nagging wife as most men are. It can also mean that he is trying to be compassionate and give you the appearance that he care if he feels your classmates view you as homely and stupid. If you were a boy and your teacher was a pretty blonde, society would view it as no big deal, and your male friends might even cheer you on. But it’s entirely possible that your teacher is a man of integrity, and simply will not yield to any unacceptable temptations. But, if he has a weakness in that area, I hope he is a really good educator, that way he can teach all of the illiterate inmates how to read as he rots in prison. I hope this helps.
