Dear Blake,

My husband and I have been together for 10 years. He is a professional musician, so a lot of my time is spent supporting this, either by promoting his endeavors or accepting the fact that I will always come second to his first love — the blues. Men have always been attracted to me, so anytime I’m in the audience during one of his gigs, some guy is always hitting on me. A few days ago, I asked him what would he do if he were on stage and I was being attacked in front of him. He said he would put his guitar in its stand, go to the microphone and ask for assistance for me. He wouldn’t throw the guitar down and rush to my aid! I couldn’t believe his response. I feel completely alone and unloved. I don’t know what to think or what to do. Any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Signed, Cynthia

Dear Cynthia,

I am sorry that his answer has you hurt and feeling rejected. But, considering the kind of music he plays, the misery he’ll feel from watching you being abducted, will only inspire him to write songs describing the incident. Like most entertainers, your husband might feel that his loyalty is to his fans, the show must go on, and he’d contact the police and FBI giving them details, at the conclusion of his concert (including encores). It’s also possible that your spouse might believe that the person who’s talking to you is a talent scout, and the duct tape that he puts across your mouth, is to insure that you don’t speak when he’s giving you important details on how he can further your husband’s career. He just might believe that it could be an admirer of his, that’s requesting info to start a fan club, as he drags you to his van while twisting your arm. However, the most important thing is your safety. You should try to get your husband to start playing country western music, because those guys always carry guns. Hopefully from the stage, he won’t think that the man you’re interacting with is a secret lover you’ve been seeing, because if that’s the case, the cops will end up making two chalk lines on the ground around a couple of bullet ridden bodies on the ground. Take a guess on who the second one will be. I hope this helps.

Blake
