Dear Blake,

I’ve never seen you answer a question like mine. I have a $20 bill that was torn. At some point, the two halves became separated in my pocket, and I lost one of them. Is there any way I could get value for the half that I still have?

Losing money can be extremely frustrating. The only thing I can suggest, is to have someone else unknowingly pay for your misfortune. Here are some ideas. If you know someone that’s gullible enough to believe that your ripped bill is worth $10, sell it to them for $5 and they’ll assume you’re the sucker, instead of them. Or, contact the company that made the pants you were wearing and blame them for your loss and threaten to sue. They will probably just send you $20, rather than go to court wasting their time and money defending a frivolous idiotic lawsuit. You can even attempt to convince some loser that it’s a rare collectors mint, and see how much you can gouge them for. Lastly, you may want to consider this idea. Find a good artist that can draw the missing half and tape them together. And even if you get arrested and convicted of counterfeiting, the judge should feel compelled to reduce your sentence by 50%… for obvious reasons. I hope this helps.
