U.S. & World History – Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) was a German composer and pianist. A crucial figure in the transition between the Classical and Romanic eras in Western art music, he remains one of the most famous and influential of all musical figures. After the recent discovery of a first draft one his most famous arrangements, it has been concluded that he must have had some ongoing financial problems, because the title of his creation the “Fifth Movement”, was written for commercial purposes after he was paid a large fee to promote U-Haul’s products and services. He also used the same music and title later in his life when he needed some extra cash, to help a pharmaceutical company market their newest laxative.
