BREAKING NEWS – Las Vegas, Nevada – Larry Basich, a 62-year-old Vegas resident, has now been stuck with a $407,000 medical bill despite signing up for an insurance plan via the state exchange last fall. According to an article in the Las Vegas Review Journal, he selected a UnitedHealthcare plan in November, and even paid his first premium, but he never received confirmation that he was enrolled, despite being assured that he was by Nevada Health Link. Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius responded specifically to Basich’s situation, stating that it was his own fault. She explained by saying, “That it was public knowledge that the ObamaCare website was really screwed up, and he assumed the risk by logging in. It was his choice to put himself in that perilous situation, so he should be blaming himself rather than irresponsible finger pointing”.
