BREAKING NEWS – Las Cruces, New Mexico – Sunny “Tex” Gilligan, 74, a Doña Ana County resident, told the Las Cruces Sun-News that his dog Charlie went with him to hunt for jackrabbits in the desert west of Las Cruces. Gilligan was in the driver’s seat of his parked pickup truck, when he was shot. “Charlie got his foot in the trigger of the gun and I leaned forward and he slipped off the seat and caught the trigger — and it shot,” Gilligan told the newspaper. “But I think Charlie did it on purpose, because every time I take him to the dog park, he would congregate with other canines, and then they would simultaneously look at me and start laughing.”
