Alexandria Ocasio-Cortex, D-N.Y., tweeted last month that members of Congress should ‘have some integrity’ and not take a paycheck during the government shutdown, has remained silent on whether she’ll take a salary during the partial government shutdown, until now. “No not everyone should take a salary,” she explained. “Only Hispanic women should be getting paid. I think it would be sexist to pay men, because they make more money than women. White women, black women, and Asian women know nothing about the plight of Latino women at the southern border so they shouldn’t get a penny either. Thus Hispanic women who obviously will fight the hardest to help migrants enter the country illegally, should be the only ones getting a check. Any male or any women from another race that disagrees with me, are only displaying their ignorance, insensitivity, and bigotry.”
