BREAKING NEWS – Compton, California – A California city councilman and five other people are facing election fraud charges following a June vote-by-mail runoff in which the councilman won re-election by one vote.

Compton Councilman Isaac Galvan, 34, was charged with conspiracy to commit election fraud and attempted bribery with intent to influence an election, City News Service reported.

Galvan allegedly tried to bribe a registrar’s office employee using concert tickets, the Los Angeles Times reported. That employee and an election observer alerted authorities about Galvan, the report said.

Galvan’s attorney spoke on behalf of the city councilman at a press conference. “What my client did isn’t so bad,” his attorney began. “His voting fraud is nothing like Chicago voter fraud when countless dead democrats cast a ballot. He admitted that many people that voted for him included people in comas, senior citizens in nursing homes that have dementia, as well as several hundred preschoolers… but at least they are still alive! Hopefully the judge will take that under consideration during the sentencing stage of his trial.”
