BREAKING NEWS – Washington, D.C. – The full-size pickups topped the National Insurance Crime Bureau’s “Hot Wheels” list of most-stolen vehicles for 2020, a year that saw an 11% overall rise in vehicle theft reports.

The annual study is based on vehicle thefts reported to law enforcement and saw the Silverado and previous Chevy full-size trucks’ spike 25.7% to move ahead of the Honda Civic on the list. And according to most of the thieves that were caught stealing the trucks, they stated that they preferred the trucks because they can be used to haul around other stolen items.

“Honda Civics are great for shoplifters,” explained a career criminal. “But for the serious-minded thief that focuses on home burglaries and warehouses, Chevy full-size trucks are the way to go. They are a lot more expensive to drive, but robbing a few people on the street usually covers the amount to fill it up.”
