BREAKING NEWS – Thousand Oaks, California – Animal rights nonprofit People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) pushed back against a California animal shelter’s decision to turn away potential pet adoptees based on their opinions about gun control.
“We do not support those who believe that the 2nd amendment gives them the right to buy assault weapons,” wrote the Shelter Hope Pet Shop according to their website. “If your beliefs are not in line with ours, we will not adopt a pet to you. We will also deny people from adopting a pet if they have ever used the blasphemous phrase ‘doggone it’, because we feel that using the canine’s name in vain that we worship, also disqualifies them as a potential pet owner. However, they can be forgiven for that if they go to confessions and the priest happens to be a St. Bernard.”
