BREAKING NEWS – Wilmington, Delaware – Crime has decreased since 2021 in Wilmington, Delaware, whose Democratic mayor is on record opposing any potential moves to defund the city police department.
Regarding any murmurs of defunding the police in Delaware’s largest city, Democratic Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki said, “Not even a whimper, we wouldn’t consider it.”
Wilmington, which has historically had crime problems and was dubbed “Murder Town USA” in 2014, has seen a 50% reduction in murders compared to the record high in 2021.
New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took issue with Purzycki’s stance on defunding the police. “What he said was outrageous!” she began. “How can he label himself a democrat, while still supporting the police? I am calling for a congressional investigation on why the murder rate went down in his city, and I’m guessing it’s because the cops there are intimidating gang members, which violates the constitutional rights of seasoned killers!”
