BREAKING NEWS – Jacksonville, Florida – The First Baptist Church of Jacksonville was spotlighted after local media reports caught wind on the church’s “biblical sexuality” statement set to take effect in March.
The “First Baptist Statement on Biblical Sexuality” detailing the church’s support for binary gender roles as well as the belief that marriage is only between a man and a woman was originally approved in October.
According to the church, all members of the congregation are required to sign the statement and return it by March 19 in order to maintain their membership.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was outraged at the church’s new policy. “This is horrible, and I doubt if their pastor really knows anything about the scriptures,” she began in a tweet. “I checked, and found out that God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of their inhospitable behavior towards visitors, the act of sexual assault, murder, theft, adultery, idolatry, power abuses, prideful mocking behavior, and homosexuality, but God said nothing about him objecting to gay marriage. I wish people would start reading their bibles!”
